  107.       In addition to providing many essential features such as CD-ROM
  108.       support, archive extraction, GIF previewing, and real-time faxing,
  109.       FTS PRO gives users an easy and powerful interface and provides
  110.       sysops with more flexibility than ever.  With FTS PRO sysops
  111.       can define an unlimited number of File Areas for their
  112.       users... CD-ROM File Directories can be ONLINE side by side
  113.       with File Directories on the hard drive.

  116.       descriptions included), tagging any number of files at a time
  117.       for download.  Unlike many existing file systems, FTS PRO gives
  118.       the user the capability to scroll both up and down in a File

  159.    The File Management System:

  161.       No other TBBS file system to date incorporates substantial
  162.       online file management.  The File Management System (FMS)
  163.       is a sophisticated management program supplementing the
  164.       powerful design of FTS PRO.

  166.       FMS makes editing/adding descriptions and comments as well
  167.       as moving/copying/deleting/adding files a snap; the
  168.       descriptions can even be imported from any text file within
  169.       an archive!  Equally as important, the FMS interface has
  170.       been designed to allow for the smallest learning curve
  171.       possible, making FMS one of the most intuitive management
  172.       systems ever written.

  174.       In addition to its sophisticated file handling functions,
  175.       FMS has the ability to alert the sysop of files listed in
  176.       the File Directory which do not exist on the disk.
  177.       Conversely, FMS can determine files that exist on the disk
  178.       but not in the File Directory.  This makes adding new files
  179.       as simple as copying them to the DOS sub-directory you want

  194.    Sysop Control Panel:

  196.       The Sysop Control Panel (SYSCTRL) provides even greater ONLINE
  197.       functionality to the FTS PRO system.  TICK processing allows
  198.       systems connected to File Distribution Networks such as SDN to
  199.       import their file packets WITHOUT shutting down to run TICK.
  200.       Additionally, if server control software is being used the
  201.       archive will be scanned for a FILE_ID.DIZ extended description
  202.       file and, if present, will use it instead of the one line TICK
  203.       description.  Furthermore, a RENAME option is provided to allow
  204.       automatically renaming files during the import process
  205.       (eg: .SDN to .ARJ).

  207.       SYSCTRL also provides ONLINE ASCII file list creation, including
  208.       the File Directories, .FAR files, and .ALL master list files!

  219.       configuration file, create directories, or perform specific

  246.    BBS software developers and operators realized the need for server
  247.    control software several years ago as an important step in expanding
  248.    the capabilities of BBS systems.  For integrated multitasking BBS
  249.    systems such as TBBS and The Major BBS, server control software has
  250.    almost become a requirement for creating a versatile system.
  251.  
  252.    Because integrated multitasking programs become the operating system
  253.    rather than run on top of it, individual nodes cannot execute DOS
  254.    programs or commands.  This severly limits the operations that can be
  255.    performed by the BBS: simple things like running PKUNZIP are impossible!
  256.    Server control software overcomes this major limitation.  CopyIt/2 is
  257.    the premier server control software for PC-DOS and OS/2.

  259.    In its most basic context, CopyIt/2 waits for request files from any
  260.    CopyIt/2 enabled application.  CopyIt/2 then dynamically schedules
  261.    current tasks and sends a response to each application.  There is no
  262.    limit to the number of tasks or requests CopyIt/2 can handle at one time.

  264.    CopyIt/2 was originally written to expand the functionality of
  265.    FTS PRO (our replacement for the standard TBBS file system);
  266.    however, it was designed with many potential applications in mind.
  267.    With FTS PRO, CopyIt/2 enables zero-impact CD-ROM support, archive
  268.    extraction, GIF previewing, real-time faxing, and other features which
  269.    can only be accomplished with server control software:

  271.    CD-ROM:  CopyIt/2's most useful feature may be its zero-impact
  272.    CD-ROM support.  When a users marks files for download on a CD-ROM, those
  273.    files should be copied to a hard drive for download.  If the BBS machine
  274.    is forced to handle all of these disk intensive tasks, its performance
  275.    suffers tremendously.  With CopyIt/2, the BBS simply sends a message
  276.    to the server telling it to copy all marked files.  When enough of the
  277.    files have been copied, the server will send a message back to the BBS
  278.    that it is safe to start the download.

  280.    ARCHIVE EXTRACTION:  Users can extract any archive format ONLINE as
  281.    long as the extraction utility exists on the server.  Users can then
  282.    view and download any internal files.

  284.    GIF PREVIEWING:  Users can view any number of GIF files at one time by
  285.    compressing them into a single GIF.
  286.  
  287.    REAL-TIME FAXING:  A fax module supplements CopyIt/2.  The CI2FAX module
  288.    allows CopyIt/2 to process fax requests from a BBS as well as providing
  289.    several fax utilities.

  291.    SHELLING:  CopyIt/2 can suspend its execution in order to run another
  292.    application.

  294.    SPAWNING:  Under OS/2, CopyIt/2 can spawn native OS/2 processes which
  295.    OS/2 manages simultaneously while CopyIt/2 continues to execute.

  297.    Several of CopyIt/2's features have been utilized in our other software
  298.    products including RFS and FRS.  Additionally, CopyIt/2's interface
  299.    specification is available to anyone interested in developing software

  385.    request for OFFLINE files.

  388.    marking OFFLINE requests.  FRS will prompt for the disks needed to supply
